Agreeing to these terms

These terms cover your use of this website and any work you hire King Concord Concrete Works to do. By using the site, asking for an estimate or booking a job with us, you agree to them, so please read them before you do.

If you hire us for a job, the written estimate or contract you sign for that job also applies. Where that document and this page disagree, the signed document wins, because it's written for your house and your project.

What we do

We're a concrete contractor in Concord, CA, and we pour and repair driveways, patios, walkways, steps, garage floors, slabs, footings and other concrete work for homes and properties in Concord and the cities around it. The full list is on our home page, and you can read more about who we are on our About page.

What's on this website is general information about our work and the trade. It isn't a promise about your particular job, because every slab depends on the ground under it, the drainage around it and what you plan to put on it. The details for your job are the ones in your written estimate.

Estimates and pricing

Our estimates are free, done in person and come with no obligation to hire us. We look at the site because the price of concrete work depends mostly on size, access, how much old concrete has to come out, how much digging and base work the ground needs, and the finish you choose.

An estimate is based on what we can see before the job starts. If we open the ground and find something nobody could see, like soft or wet soil, buried debris or old concrete under the surface, we'll stop, explain it to you and agree on any change in price in writing before we do the extra work.

Prices on an estimate hold for the period written on it. After that, material costs may have changed, so we may need to update the figure before we schedule.

Scheduling, weather and cancellation

We'll give you a start date when you book, and we'll do our best to keep it. Concrete is weather work, though, so rain, extreme heat or a delay in getting materials can move a pour, because pouring in the wrong conditions makes a weaker slab. If that happens, we'll let you know as early as we can and set a new date with you.

Please make sure we can reach the work area on the scheduled day, with vehicles moved, gates unlocked and pets kept inside. If we can't get in, we may need to reschedule.

If you need to cancel or move your job, call us at (925) 536-0945 as soon as you know. Any cancellation terms, including what happens to a deposit or to materials already ordered for your job, are set out in your written contract.

Payment

The amount you owe, when each payment is due and how you can pay are written in your contract before any work starts. We don't ask for payment on work that isn't in writing.

If a payment is late, we'll reach out to you first to sort it out. We may pause further work on the job until the account is brought up to date.

Our guarantee and what concrete can and can't do

King Concord Concrete Works is licensed and insured, and we stand behind our work with a satisfaction guarantee on every job. If something about our work isn't right, tell us and we'll come out, look at it and make it right where the problem is ours.

Concrete can crack, even when it's done well. We cut control joints, which are grooves that give the slab a planned place to crack, so small cracks usually show up in the joints where they don't stand out. Fine hairline cracks, small color differences between pours and slight changes in the finish are normal for concrete and aren't defects.

Our guarantee doesn't cover damage from things outside our control, such as soil movement, tree roots, drainage changes made after we leave, heavy vehicles beyond what the slab was built for, de-icing salts, harsh chemicals, or using the slab before it has finished curing, which is the waiting time concrete needs to gain strength. We'll tell you when it's safe to walk on and when it's safe to drive on, and following that matters.

Apart from the guarantee described here and anything written in your contract, we don't make other promises about our work, and the information on this website is provided as is.

Limits on our liability

To the extent the law allows, we aren't responsible for indirect or follow-on losses, such as lost use of your driveway during a weather delay, and our total responsibility for any job is limited to the amount you paid us for that job.

Before we dig, we'll ask you about anything buried on your property that isn't on public records, like sprinkler lines, private gas or electric lines or septic parts. We take care around what we know about, but we can't be responsible for damage to private lines nobody told us about.

Nothing on this page takes away any right you have under California law that can't be waived.

If we disagree

If you're unhappy with anything, call us first. Most problems get settled faster with a conversation on site than any other way, and we'd rather fix it than argue about it.

If we can't settle a dispute between us, these terms and any job we do are governed by the laws of the State of California, and any court case will be heard in Contra Costa County, where we're based.

Changes to these terms

We may update this page from time to time. The version posted here applies to the website from the day it's posted, and the terms in place when you sign your contract apply to that job.
