About our Concord concrete contractor business

How I came to build concrete in Concord
I taught myself concrete on small jobs around my own place and for friends, then learned the rest working on other people's crews before I started King Concord Concrete Works here in Concord in 2020. I'm a teacher at heart, so on an estimate I'll explain why a step matters before I tell you what we'll do. Most of our calls come from homeowners in Concord and the cities around it, plus some small property owners, about driveways that have sunk, patios where water pools and slabs that cracked in odd places. What I care about most is that you know what you're paying for and how concrete will age, cracks and upkeep included. If the budget gets tight, I'd rather trim the finish than the base, the dug-out and packed ground the slab sits on, because nobody sees the base on day one but it decides whether your slab settles later.

What working with us looks like on your job
These are the things you'll notice when we take on your driveway, patio or slab, from the first walk around your yard to the day you're using it again.
Your options explained before you sign
I walk the job with you and lay out the choices in plain words, like a broom finish, the light brushed texture that keeps a wet slab from getting slick, versus stamped or decorative work. You pick what fits your place before you commit to anything.
The person who quotes it is there for the pour
I come out to look at the job and write the estimate, then I work on site with our small crew of form setters and finishers. That way what we agreed on in your driveway is what gets poured.
Straight talk about cracks and upkeep
Concrete shrinks as it dries and moves with the ground, so we cut control joints, planned grooves that give a crack a straight line to follow, and we tell you hairline cracks can still show up. We'll also tell you when resealing is worth doing, so nothing about your slab surprises you later.
Licensing, insurance and the permit side
California contractor license
The state licensing board requires a licensed contractor when a job needs a building permit, uses any extra workers or runs $1,000 or more in labor and materials, so it's worth checking that whoever pours your slab holds one. We're licensed and insured, and we check with the city or county that covers your address and handle the permit paperwork when your job needs one.
